Smartsheet System Administrator Certification Practice Exam

Cell Linking in Smartsheet enables users to connect cells from one sheet to another, allowing for real-time access to data across multiple sheets. This feature is particularly beneficial for maintaining data integrity and consistency when working with related information spread across different sheets.

For example, if you have a summary sheet that pulls data from various project sheets, cell linking allows you to automatically update your summary whenever the source data changes. This fosters a more dynamic workflow, as users can track and reference data across various sheets without manual updates, ensuring that everyone is working with the most current information.

In contrast, linking cells within the same sheet does not utilize the full capabilities of cell linking, and while creating formulas for complex calculations is a powerful feature in Smartsheet, it is not the primary function of cell linking. Tracking changes to individual cells refers to a different aspect of Smartsheet's functionality focused on change management rather than connecting data across sheets. Thus, linking cells from one sheet to another for real-time data access is the most accurate description of cell linking's purpose in Smartsheet.
